Kafka’s Beetle

Kafka’s Beetle is a robot form shifted from a non functional UHF booster, which I found in an abandoned pre-demolished building in downtown Abu Dhabi.  The device grabbed my attention because of its form factor, small, the red reflective light on the front that would be used to indicate that the device was turned on, and the power through points on the back that allowed power to be sent from the booster to another device in the chain.  The two images at the top of the page represent the booster’s original state, and deconstructed state, with all internal pieces removed.  The bottom two images show the beetle in its completed or near completed state from different angles, including a close-up of the head, the spikes on the back, an image of the through power points on the side, and a full frontal of the beetle, clearly expositing its legs.
